How to Connect a Gaming Chair to an Xbox 360 with HD video (with an HDMI cable)

There are two main ways to hook up your Gaming Chair to your Xbox 360 while still using an HD video connection (via an hdmi cable).

Method 1

The first method is the simplest to set up and the best method if it is available to you.  You simply connect your gaming chair directly to your television.

First, check to make sure that you have red and white audio outputs on your TV.  They should look something like this (highlighted in red):

Note: If you don't have the red and white audio out jacks, a Digital Audio Out (highlighted in yellow) can be used if you purchase a digital to analog audio adapter like this one (http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Toslink-Analog-Converter/dp/B004C4WPXA) and a Digital Audio Toslink cable to connect it.

Next you simply take a regular red and white audio cable, which has a pair of red and white male audio jacks on each end, and connect one end to the red and white outputs on your TV:

And the other end to the red and white audio INPUT of the gaming chair:

Then, connect the power adapter to the gaming chair, plug it in,  turn on the chair and the audio is all set.

Now to connect the Xbox 360's HD video, simply connect an HDMI cable between the Xbox and the TV:

And finally turn on the Xbox 360 and the TV, and that’s all there is to it.  You’ll now have HD video connected from the Xbox to the TV (via the HDMI cable) and sound coming through the gaming chair speakers and the TV speakers (via the audio cable).

One of the best things about connecting your gaming chair directly to the TV’s audio output is that any audio signal that is plugged into the TV will now also come out of the speakers in the gaming chair, whether it’s coming from a gaming system, television program (cable box), Blu-ray player, computer, or anything else.  This is great because it means that you don’t have to change the connection of the gaming chair depending on what you’re using.  It also means that you get sound coming out of both the television speakers and the gaming chair speakers, which creates a powerful surround sound effect.  All of these factors make this the best method of connecting a gaming chair to an Xbox 360 with HD video.

Note: Changing the volume on the TV will now also change the volume of the sound coming out of the gaming chair speakers.  So to balance the sound coming from the speakers in front of you (the TV speakers) and behind you (the gaming chair speakers) simply adjust the volume dial on the side of the gaming chair until it’s balanced.

Method 2

If you don’t have an Audio Out on your TV or you only want to connect the gaming chair to the Xbox 360 while still having an HD video connection then this second method will be best for you.  Keep in mind that you will need to purchase this adapter (http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Cable-Adapter-XBOX-360-Slim/dp/B002P35JMO), but luckily it is very cheap (under $5 with free shipping at the time this article was written)

First connect the Xbox to the television using an HDMI cable:

Then plug the adapter into the Xbox 360 and connect it to the gaming chair using a red and white audio cable.  First plug one side of the red and white audio cable into the adapter:

And connect the other end to the red and white audio INPUT of the gaming chair:

Then, connect the power adapter to the gaming chair.  And finally, turn on the chair, the TV, and the Xbox and that’s all there is to it.  You’ll now have HD video connected from the Xbox to the TV (via the HDMI cable) and sound coming through the gaming chair speakers (via the adapter and the audio cable).

A disadvantage of connecting the gaming chair using this method is that it is only connected to the Xbox 360, so if you want to use it with another gaming system or device, you will have to unplug it from the Xbox and connect it to whatever you’re looking to use it with.   And secondly, the sound from the Xbox 360 will only come out of the gaming chair speakers, and will not also come out of the TV speakers like in Method 1.

So there you have it, two different ways of connecting your gaming chair to your Xbox 360 while still using an HD video connection.  Thank you for visiting GamingChair.com and we look forward to serving you in any way we can.
